Prostitute Is Not A Crime – Veteran Actress Nse Ikpe-Etim

Following the illegal detainment of some women, whom the police tagged as prostitutes, by police officers after a raid on an Abuja night club, there has been an uprising of female activists and feminists alike, berating such arrest.

Nollywood actress Nse Ikpe-Etim has also condemned the alleged sexual harassment of the women, whilst they had been in police custody.

She disclosed this on Saturday during an event she hosted with her enthusiasts at the event, tagged, ‘Conversation with Nse’ which befell in Lekki, Lagos.

According to The Nation, while concerning the incident, the actress stated that,

“Being a prostitute is not a crime. It is a job they chose.”

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command stated it’ll probe the allegations of sexual attack against its men and punish the ones located erring.

On April 27, policemen connected to the FCTA Joint Task Team arrested 34 woman strippers at Caramelo night membership in Abuja and labeled them as prostitutes. About 70 different women had been arrested in different clubs. Arraigned earlier than a cellular court, the women have been granted bail on April 29.

The girls alleged some policemen extorted them, beat them and sexually molested them when they arrested and detained at Utako Police Division between April 26 April 29, 2019. They also accused the policemen of liberating individuals who bribed them with cash.
