Senator Lawan Issues Warning To Buhari

The Majority Leader of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has told President Muhammadu Buhari, that the National Assembly will not become his “rubber stamp” if he is elected Senate President.

Lawan said this at the same time as speak me to newshounds in Abuja on Saturday.

The lawmaker admitted that despite the fact that he’s partial to Buhari, his aid for the president will no longer jeopardize the upper legislative chamber underneath his leadership.

Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had recommended Lawan to prevail Bukola Saraki as Senate President.

“I won’t deny it; I am a president Buhari guy. I consider in him and I believe in my birthday celebration due to the beliefs they stand for. But in case you accept as true within a person and that they have a problem which you think can be carried out in a positive way aside from the manner it became presented, suggesting you pass the other manner demonstrates that you are clearly for that person.

“So my aid for the president, for example, should not be misconstrued as going to make the countrywide assembly a rubber stamp if I am senate president.

“The feature of the legislature is for the individuals of the legislature in majority to take a choice after a debate or whatever; then the minority might have had their say and the choice goes to the majority. You can not as a presiding officer say no, I am not going to go with that role. Else you may be sacked,” he stated.
